Commissioners

The Jackson County Board of Commissioners are the general administrative body for county government. They are the county government taxing, budgeting, appropriating, and purchasing authority. Their duties include hearing and ruling on annexations, approving drainage improvements through the petition ditch process, establishing sewer districts and making improvements, and providing for solid waste disposal.

They also appoint department heads and members of a variety of boards. In addition to these explicit duties, commissioners are required to be active in promoting the growth and welfare of many countywide agencies and organizations.

All formal and official actions must be taken by the Board of County Commissioners, acting as a body, by a majority or unanimous vote. The Jackson County Commissioners meet on Wednesday morning at 8:30 am at the former B J Allison Public Health Center at 200 East Main Street in Jackson.

PUBLIC NOTICE

NOTICE OF CIVIL FORFEITURE ACTION

(R.C. 2981.05(F))

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to R.C. 2981.05(F), that on the 29th day of September, 2026, the State of Ohio, by and through the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney, filed a Complaint for Civil Forfeiture in the Court of Common Pleas of Jackson County, Ohio, Case No. 26-CIV-0354 under R.C. 2981.05(C) and R.C. 2981.02, seeking an order forfeiting the following property to the State of Ohio.

Itemized List of Property Sought to Be Forfeited: One (1) Anderson MFG AM15 rifle, Serial No. 20144959.

Date and Location of Seizure: The property was seized on or about September 23, 2020, in Jackson County, Ohio. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office currently holds the property.

Any person who claims an interest in the property described above may petition the Court for release of the property under R.C. 2981.05(G) and R.C. 2981.03(D), and may file a claim for release of the property under the Ohio Rules of Civil Procedure. Persons claiming an interest in the property, or seeking a copy of the Complaint, may contact the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office at the address below. Persons claiming an interest are encouraged to consult an attorney of their choosing.

This notice is published for two consecutive weeks immediately after the filing of the Complaint, on the website and social media account of Jackson County, Ohio, as authorized by R.C. 2981.05(F)(3).
